Food Network: Jamie's American Road Trip
Just weeks after Hurricane Gustav wreaked havoc on Louisiana, Jamie Oliver visits the state, hoping to understand how food helps to maintain people's spirits through adversity. In New Orleans he calls at a Creole restaurant run by a self-styled gumbo queen, and is given the opportunity to learn the art of alligator hunting.
Jamie Oliver demonstrates how to produce home-grown summer salads in even the most confined garden plot. He also offers advice on the basic principles of dressings, and shows how simple green leaves can form the basis of a roasted peach and bresaola salad with feta and yoghurt.
