Overland | Season 16 | Episode 5 | The Inca Heartland
Leaving from the border of Desaguadero between Bolivia and Peru we reach Puno after a few bureaucratic issues, to meet the Uros, on their floating islands on Lake Titicaca. Along the route which takes us to Cuzco we find the ruins of Sillustani and Puca Pucara, and the exceptional terracing of Pìsac that conserve incredible examples of the genius of the Incas in agriculture, which are still used today. Amidst skilled weavers, women playing football and a drink of chicha, we discover that cultural habits are very deeply rooted. Cuzco, which was made a Unesco World Heritage site in 1983 and the historic capital of Peru in the '90s, conceals a glorious past, which you will experience starting from the Sacsayhuaman fortress.
