Both Daniel and Debra know that they carry extra weight but their main concern is daughter Gugu, whose weight has escalated to over 23 stone. After a week of being screened by Nina, Niall and Sinead, the family head to the Consulting Room to find out the real state of their health. Gugu finds out that at aged only 24, she has become insulin resistant – which means she is in serious risk of developing type 2 diabetes, something her father already suffers from. The whole family’s health must be improved dramatically, and the doctors give them an exercise plan, a new food regime as well as other instructions they must carry out over the next eight weeks. The family struggle to carry out the Doctor’s Orders, and Gugu is sent to Vincent’s Hospital for a sleep study as the doctors are concerned she may be suffering from sleep apnoea. At the end of the 8 weeks, our ‘Take Away Delivery Person’ makes a visit to the Nyoni’s house, informing them of a great new restaurant that has opened up around the corner. As usual, one of our doctors will be watching secretly from afar. Will they succumb to a delicious sounding meal deal…? Or will they be able to stick to healthy food when they think they’re all alone? At the end of the 8 weeks they are re-tested… Will the changes they have made show any sign of changing their long term health?
