Performing Differently
Sébastien, Rodrigue, Richard, Pascal and Lionel are not top athletes like the others: they have a mental handicap, obvious in one, barely visible in the other. They all have one thing in common: they proudly wear the colors of the France team and claim their membership in adapted sport, reserved for the mentally retarded.Their goal: to qualify for the Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016 and win a medal for France. This documentary film proposes to follow the preparation and the quest for performance of these athletes like no other, during the qualifying period for the Paralympic Games, and will also give them the floor to question the world of mental handicap: How do they live their disabled status? How do they see their difference and the world of able-bodied people? And how do they build themselves as athletes?
