In the eighth episode of Luke Nguyen’s Greater Mekong, Luke enjoys a weekend of food and sun in the seaside town of Kep before heading across the border to Chau Doc in Vietnam. Starting beachside, Luke cooks a tasty barbequed squid, pork and snake bean dish as local kids play in the nearby surf. He then heads out of Kep to some ancient caves to cook up a contemporary Cocoa-Cola chicken dish, while an old priest named, White Dragon, shares the legend of the caves. Crossing the border into Chau Doc, Vietnam, Luke feels right at home cooking ‘mum’, a classic Vietnamese terrine dish, with a local grandmother who shares her tips on how to make an authentic ‘mum.’
