Rescue in the Phillipines

55m 07s

Rescue in The Philippines is a one-hour documentary of the untold story of how five Cincinnati businessmen and brothers together with charismatic first president of the Philippines, Manuel Quezon, Paul McNutt (U.S. High Commissioner and former governor of Indiana), and an ambitious U.S. Army Colonel named Dwight Eisenhower, helped 1,300 Jews escape the Nazis and immigrate to the Philippines. The contribution the Jews presented was not lost on the Philippine government, however, the US State Department was not very comfortable with such large numbers as they were concerned the Jews might use the Philippines as a back door to the US. They were also concerned that the experiment would fail.
